The Mindful Art of Zentangle:
Unleashing the Therapeutic Power of Creating Beautiful Patterns
DEMONSTRATION ARTIST: DONNA NORTON
You don’t want to miss the February 22, 2025 Member Meeting, featuring Donna Norton, RAL’s very own certified Zentangle teacher, is going to lead RAL Members in a Zentangle drawing session! Not only will you leave with new drawing skills, you will discover the wonderful benefit of Zentangle therapy!
Donna Norton is a retired elementary music teacher, and gifted and talented coordinator who has explored fine art most of her life. She has fine tuned her eclectic approach with mixed media. She received her Zentangle Teaching Certification in 2022 so she could enjoy sharing her knowledge again.
Donna has now discovered her signature art style through drawing and inking patterns with a theme. Mandalas have become one of her favorite endeavors. She uses paper for the art, then adheres it to wood panels, canvas, chipboard, or foam board. Each piece is then protected by several layers of fixative and varnish glaze. She wants her work to withstand time in the utmost manner.
Her artwork is inspired by patterns from her experiences and by many other Zentangle artists around the world. She intricately draws each pattern as a meditative process with the hope of adding inspiration for the onlookers. Details are given a definite hand drawn feeling, sometimes in pen and ink fashion and sometimes with added color from different mediums.
She stays busy with family, rural living, Yoga, Qi Gong, and art activities.
